A U.S.-based pioneer in industrial 3D printing, recognized for combining composite and metal additive manufacturing technologies to transform modern production.
The project required setting up a complete localization workflow from the ground up: building and maintaining glossaries, translation memories, and style guidelines. The content was highly technical, covering a field where new materials, processes, and use cases emerge almost daily. In addition, the source text included large volumes of imperial measurements that had to be systematically converted into metric units for the target market, with absolute accuracy and consistency.
I designed and implemented the entire Traditional Chinese localization workflow, establishing glossaries, translation memories, and style guidelines from the ground up. At the start of the collaboration, I advised the client on best practices for Chinese typesetting. For each project thereafter, I reviewed the translated PDFs to verify the layout and ensure the files were publication-ready.
Once a substantial translation memory had been built, I worked closely with the client to evaluate and test machine translation engines, integrating MT (machine translation) into the workflow in a way that balanced efficiency with the high level of precision the field demands.
